North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is embarking on a quality improvement (QI) journey following the launch of its three-year strategy.
The strategy examines how the Trust can design and deliver services that meets the needs of the local population.
This pledge comes in partnership with an internal QI awareness week, where Trust experts have offered a series of interactive engagement sessions with the staff.
The Trust’s Chief People Officer, Dr Susy Cook, said: “The healthcare sector has experienced unprecedented changes in recent months and it is no better time than the present for us to reflect on our services.
“Therefore, we are pledging our dedication to quality improvement and encouraging our staff and the general public to help us in this journey.
“QI is not just a requirement for our staff; feedback from the public can also help us in delivering high quality healthcare.”
Whether the change is big or small, these improvements all make a difference to our Trust. I am excited to see the lasting changes that can be made with our QI pledge; this is our first step in a very important field.
Susy Cook, Chief People Officer
The Trust is following up this pledge with regular development and training opportunities, embedding quality improvement into the culture of the organisation.
This includes the NHS standardised Quality, Service Improvement and Redesign (QSIR) courses.
The Trust has since enrolled over 90 members of staff on this service improvement training, with plans to deliver it in-house from spring 2023.
The QI pledge falls under the work stream of the Trust’s Faculty of Learning, Leadership and Improvement.
The aim is to educate and support staff in leadership and quality improvement, facilitating programmes such as the highly commended 100 leaders.
Quality improvement is crucial to the future healthcare our Trust offers.
We strive for excellence in everything we do. QI is a way that we can challenge ourselves by continually improving our services in order to meet the changing needs of the population.
