During these difficult times we’re ensuring the fantastic work our staff are doing every day gets the recognition they deserve.
The staff on the orthopaedic ward at the University Hospital of North Tees have received the latest team of the month award in recognition of the outstanding care provided to a relative of a staff member.
Nursing associate Lisa Tomlinson nominated the team after her 93-year-old nan had a fall and fractured her hip and was admitted to ward 33 as a result.

Lisa wanted to thank the staff for not only helping her nan on the road to recovery, but for supporting her by keeping in regular contact and allowing her to visit around her placement shifts she was working at the time.
She said: “As a very fit and active 93-year-old, my nan had never been in hospital before, the outstanding care she received from admission to recovery was second to none and all the staff involved in nans care were kind, compassionate and treat her with the upmost respect.
“This team have shown how brilliant our NHS services are, from listening to my nans wishes and allowing her to maintain her independence, to going the extra mile to provide fresh fruit she likes they have been nothing short of amazing.”
