The Trust provides phlebotomy services to inpatients and outpatients on wards and in outpatient clinics at both North Tees and Hartlepool hospitals. Housebound patients requiring blood tests can be referred by their health professional for home visits and GP patients in the Stockton area can ‘walk-in’ to one of our clinics at a number of surgery locations.
Accessing outpatient clinics
Our phlebotomy team will welcome hospital out-patient patients at North Tees and Hartlepool hospitals.
Just turn up during opening times and arrive at least 20 minutes before closing to avoid any issues with being treated.
You must please bring your request form as otherwise we cannot collect your blood samples.
Our opening times are as follows:
- North Tees: 8:45am to 12:45pm and 1:30pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
- Hartlepool: 8:45am to 12:45pm and 1:30pm to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Please be aware that morning clinics tend to be busier than afternoons at both hospital sites.

Our phlebotomists will take the blood sample, and then you will receive your results from the health professional who referred you to us.
Home visiting times: 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday (Excluding bank holidays).
Health Professionals will need to complete the SPA Referral Form on behalf of a patient and add their request to ICE to enable the referral.
Making a referral
Health professionals are asked to phone our single point of access on to make a referral on behalf of a patient.
Health Professionals must email a completed SPA Referral Form to [email protected] or send as an electronic referral to the Phlebotomy Service SystmOne unit (for house-bound patients only).
Please ensure an ICE form is completed with the referral.
Patients are unable to self refer to the single point of access service.
